My innovation plan consists of using ePortfolios in a Fine Arts Dance classroom at the secondary level. This was a very specific topic, so as I have done other assignments through the course, my focus has widened a bit to encompass other educational subjects. This is also relevant to me now as I am switching jobs for the next school year. I will be able to have more information on using ePortfolios in the classroom that is less specific to just dance content. For my action research, I decided to look closer at using ePortfolios as a tool for reflection. I believe this could be helpful in many grade levels and subjects.
Are students who have to self-reflect on their learning more engaged in classroom activities than those who do not self-reflect? Does self-reflection aid in higher student achievement?
I am choosing to use both methods of data collection, qualitative and quantitative. I believe this will help with measuring the outcome of my research. Some examples of instruments I will use are student polls, interviews, google form surveys, and assessment data.
Here is a rough draft of my Action Research Outline. Feel free to give feedback!
